Did you know - If current trends continue, more than 340 million women and girls will still live in extreme poverty by 2030, and close to one in four will experience moderate or severe food insecurity?
This International Women’s Day, we invite you to contribute towards helping women and girls break free from the cycle of poverty and enjoy equal rights across all aspects of life.
UN Women is committed to achieving gender equality for all women, empowering them to contribute their unique knowledge and skills to help create a better world for themselves, their families and their communities. Working in over 100 countries across the globe, UN Women runs vital programs such as:
• The African Girls Can Code Initiative that provides hundreds of girls and young women with training in ICT skills, placing them on track to take up studies and careers in the ICT sector,
• Second Chance Education programme that enables women to learn vocations and entrepreneurial skills, impacting more than 15,000 women from some of the poorest and most vulnerable areas,
• Centres that provide refugee and vulnerable women with skill development and early childhood services, empowering over 30,000 individuals by improving their economic independence and self-confidence, and many more…
Ensuring that women and girls enjoy equal rights across all aspects of life is the only way to secure prosperous and just economies, and a healthy planet for future generations.
