Happy Mother’s Day! We thank all the mothers and mother figures around the world who provide leadership from parliaments to the sports field, board rooms to homes, and offer unwavering commitment, care, lessons, love and support.
The last couple of years have been especially challenging for women globally. The COVID pandemic has led to a quadruple burden of impact: women have been more likely to lose wages and jobs, been saddled with an increased burden of care, been more likely to be on the frontlines as health workers, and have experienced the Shadow Pandemic of increased rates of violence.
In addition, women and girls continue to face heightened risks and challenges during emergencies, including the situation in Afghanistan, the earthquake in Haiti and the crisis in Ukraine.
It’s been a tough time, and it’s hard to say whether the end is clearly in sight.
From training women political candidates to finding ways to prevent violence against women and girls, promoting women's ability to secure decent jobs to ensuring equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of humanitarian action, UN Women is committed to improving the lives of women including mothers and mother figures across the world. But we need your help.
Honour mothers and mother figures everywhere by making a donation to enable brighter futures for all women and girls everywhere today!
