Violence against women and girls is the most pervasive human rights violation of our time. Globally, almost 1 in 3 women have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence at least once in their lives.
Against the background of multiple and protracted crises around the globe, coupled with a growing backlash on women’s human rights, the time is now for feminist voices to come together.
Every day, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund), managed by UN Women on behalf of the UN System, supports civil society and women’s rights organizations to prevent and end violence against women and girls by resourcing comprehensive life-saving support to women and girls like Mary (see below), who are survivors or at-risk of violence. Last year, UN Trust Fund grantee organizations reached over 47.5 million people, including at least 24.4 million women and girls through initiatives such as awareness-raising campaigns to prevent and end violence against women.
