As the war on Gaza reached its six-month mark, it continues to be a war on women.
More than 10,000 women have been killed to date, among them an estimated 6,000 mothers who left 19,000 orphan children behind. Women who have survived have been displaced, widowed, and are facing starvation.
More than one million women and girls in Gaza have almost no food, no access to safe water, latrines, washrooms, or sanitary pads, with disease growing amidst inhumane living conditions.
In these last 6 months, UN Women has reached almost 100,000 women and their families with food, blankets, winter clothes, hygiene products and sanitary kits. Additionally, we are partnering with women-led organizations to address the different challenges women and girls in Gaza face, including protection and well-being.
UN Women continues to call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, and that no effort be spared to ensure women’s and girls’ protection and safe access to rapid, unimpeded, and gender-responsive humanitarian assistance.
Please donate today to protect and support women and their families in the Gaza crisis.
